Konami Barred Hideo Kojima From Accepting Metal Gear Award

Kiefer Sutherland accepts an award on Hideo Kojima’s behalf

Metal Gear designer Hideo Kojima was apparently not allowed to attend tonight’s Game Awards, per an announcement by host Geoff Keighley. A lawyer for Konami reportedly barred Kojima from attending, nor accept his awards. The Phantom Pain’s Kiefer Sutherland accepted one of Metal Gear’s awards on his behalf. When the news was revealed, the audience boo’d in protest.

J-POP SUMMIT 2015 Opening Night @ Castro

The special opening night event presented by J-POP SUMMIT 2015 and Japan Film Festival of San Francisco will take place at the celebrated Castro Theatre of San Francisco, on Aug 07, 2015 @ 8:00 PM.

Highlights of the evening include a screening of Sogo Ishii’s film, Electric Dragon 80,000V, a visual action film that stars acclaimed Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano (Ichi the Killer, Zatoichi, Thor, 46 Ronin, Battleship). A Q&A with Tadanobu Asano, followed by a live DJ set and visual collaboration by Japan’s god of techno DJ, Ken Ishii and Japan’s top anime director, Koji Morimoto (Animatrix, Genius Party Beyond).

J-POP SUMMIT 2015 to Host Singer Anna Yano

Anna Yano will perform at J-Pop Summit’s main stage and host a meet-and-greet with fans.

Yano provided the opening theme “All Over” for the 2014 series of anime shorts Magica Wars. She also performed the opening theme song “Shape My Story” for the 2013 series Stella Women’s Academy, High School Division Class C3. Yano recently performed at the A-Kon convention in Dallas in June.

Gainax President Hiroyuki Yamaga to Discuss「Uru in Blue」at FanimeCon 2015

Hiroyuki Yamaga is writing and directing Uru in Blue with designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. Both had worked together in the same roles in the 1987 anime filmRoyal Space Force – The Wings of Honnêamise. Instead of the typical Japanese production committee, Uru in Blue will be produced by Uru in Blue LLP, a limited liability partnership comprised of various investors and partners. The projected budget is US$40 million, and Yasuhiro Takeda will be a producer. The film is due to be released in 2018.
